Savannah, Georgia · Painting & color

Wisteria climbs here every spring. We keep up with the color.

Interior repainting, exterior work, cabinet refinishing, porch and deck staining, drywall patching and color consultation — paced to the season and to the light that actually falls on your walls.

We come out, look at the walls in daylight, and talk color before anyone opens a can.

01 — Interiors

Rooms here are dark at noon and gold by five.

A Savannah interior changes color three times a day. We repaint for the hour you actually use the room — the kitchen in the morning, the parlor at dusk — and we do the unglamorous part properly before the color ever arrives.

Everything moved and covered, seams and nail pops patched, edges sanded, a full prime, then two finish coats in the color you chose in your own light.

  2. 02 Patch and sandCracks, nail pops and old picture hooks filled and feathered back flat.
  3. 03 PrimeA full prime coat, so the new color reads true instead of tinted by what is underneath.
  4. 04 Two finish coatsBrushed and rolled in the room, at the hour you use it.

02 — Exteriors

Porches fade first on the south side.

Most of the work is prep. The color is the last ten percent.

Sun on the river side, salt in the air, mildew after a wet June — exterior paint is asked to do a great deal here. We wash, scrape back what has failed, prime the bare wood, and caulk the seams that let water in before any finish goes on.

Then we build the finish up in coats rather than one heroic layer, so it wears evenly and can be washed and touched up for years instead of peeling in sheets.

Prep
Washing, scraping, sanding, priming bare wood, caulking seams and joints.
Finish
Siding, trim, columns, shutters, railings, doors and porch ceilings.

03 — Cabinets, porches & decksWood that gets handled, and wood that gets rained on.

Cabinets

Cabinet refinishing

Doors and drawers come off and go out; boxes are cleaned and deglossed; everything is sprayed smooth and put back with the hardware you kept or the hardware you replaced.

Kitchens here often want a lighter hand — a quieter color, a finish that wipes clean on a Sunday morning.

Porches & decks

Deck and porch staining

A porch floor takes the same traffic as your kitchen, in bare feet. We sand back the boards, strip old stain where it is flaking, and lay down a stain that soaks in and shows the grain rather than sitting on top of it.

Timing matters more than anything: we work in the shoulder season, when the wood is dry and the humidity gives you a day.

04 — Color & repair

Then there is the wall behind the door.

Drywall patching

Holes from door handles, water stains, hairline cracks over old plaster, the seam where an addition once met the house. We cut back to sound material, patch, and feather it out until you cannot find it at an angle in daylight.

Color consultation

Bring us the room, the light and the thing you do not want to repaint. We bring fans of chips, hold them against the wall at the hour the room is actually used, and narrow it down to two or three we would put on the house ourselves.

05 — Book a visit

Let's pick a morning.

Tell us what you are thinking about painting. We come out, walk the house with you in daylight, talk color where the color actually lives, and leave you with an estimate.

  1. You send the form with a rough idea of the rooms.
  2. We walk the house with you in daylight and talk color.
  3. You get a written estimate to think over.
