The wood

Three loads, split by hand.

Mixed hardwood for everyday burning, kiln-dried oak when you want it hotter and drier, and kindling tied by hand. Everything comes off the same lot outside Staunton.

Mixed hardwood

Cut, split and left to season under cover. It lights easily, holds a coal bed and smells the way a woodstove should. A half cord covers a few weeks of steady evenings; a full cord carries the winter.
