Five productions, carried lantern by lantern

The Season

The parade starts at the Playhouse. Pick your night.

Every production on the line takes single-show reservations. Each one is its own night, carried by the people who take a seat — book one, or take the whole procession with a pass.

  1. Lantern 01 · Autumn

    Season Opener

    Full-length play · Mainstage

The first lantern lit. A full-length play on the mainstage to open the season, with the house lights down and the river street quiet outside.

    Reserve seats
  2. Lantern 02 · Winter

    Holiday Revue

    Music and song · Mainstage

An evening of song and story for the coldest weeks of the year, built for a full house and a warm room.

    Reserve seats
  3. Lantern 03 · Winter

    Winter Studio Play

    Studio staging · Limited seating

A close, quiet staging with the audience near enough to hear the breath between lines — the smallest lantern on the line.

    Reserve seats
  4. Lantern 04 · Spring

    Spring Musical

    Musical · Full company

The biggest lantern of the year: a full musical with the whole company on the stage and the whole town in the seats.

    Reserve seats
  5. Lantern 05 · End of summer

    Youth Showcase

    Young performers · Mainstage

What the summer stage camp builds, performed on the same boards the season plays on — the last lantern, carried by the youngest hands.

    Reserve seats

Titles and dates go up on this page as each production is confirmed. Reservations open for every lantern on the line; if you would rather not choose, a season pass or flex-pass bundle carries you through all five.

Season Pass & Flex-Pass

One ribbon, every lantern.

A pass is the whole procession in one purchase. The gold ribbon runs the length of the season and collects a lantern for every night you carry — take the full run, or a bundle of nights that fit around your winter.

Youth Summer Stage Camp

A lantern-making table, all summer long.

Each summer the Playhouse turns into a workshop: a long table, paper and wire, and a company of young performers building a show together. Camp ends with the Youth Showcase — the last lantern on the season line, lit by the youngest hands in the building.

Auditions

A glowing doorway, and it is open.

Auditions for the season are held at the Playhouse, where the door is left lit for anyone who wants to step through it — first-timers and old hands alike. Sign up ahead so we know who is coming, and bring what the part asks for.

Casting notices go up before each production, and the signup list is how the doorway stays open.

Support the Playhouse

Keep the parade lit.

The Lantern Playhouse is a nonprofit community theater, and every lantern on the line is held up by the town. Donations keep the lights on the stage; sponsorship carries a production from the first read-through to closing night.

Sponsorship levels run from a single gift to underwriting a full production. Tell us which lantern you would like to keep burning and we will find the level that fits.

And when you are ready to take your seat — the parade is waiting.
