    Wash and dry your hair, skip heavy product, and bring your own unit clean and detangled if you have one. Come on time and ready to sit.

04 — Before you sit

A clean, product-free hairline is what lets a lace blend disappear. Here is what to do before you come in.

  • Hair washed and fully dry. Day-of or the night before, with no damp roots under the cap.
  • No oils, leave-ins, gels or edge control. Product lifts a frontal and dulls the lace blend.
  • Bringing your own unit? Come clean, detangled and on its stand, with the lace free of glue.
  • Have your look in mind. Length, part, density and finish — say it up front and it gets built in.
  • Skip heavy makeup. A clean hairline and forehead make for a cleaner blend.
  • Eat before you come. Installs run long and the chair runs on time.
