The panels wake before we do.
Long before the town stirs, the arrays in the fields and on the roofs are already working. Members buy a share of a shared array, and the electricity it makes goes to the local grid — no rooftop of your own required.
Sunrise Renewables Cooperative is a member-owned energy co-op on the shore of Lake Champlain. We run community solar, wind energy, efficiency audits and battery storage across Burlington and the Champlain Valley — and we teach what we learn as we go.
The arc of the day
From first light to last, this is how the co-op gathers, moves, saves and stores the day — across rooftops, ridgelines, basements and batteries in Burlington and the Champlain Valley.

Long before the town stirs, the arrays in the fields and on the roofs are already working. Members buy a share of a shared array, and the electricity it makes goes to the local grid — no rooftop of your own required.
As the morning warms the valley, air moves across the lake and up the ridgelines. Our wind projects take that steadier current, filling in the hours when the sun is still low and the load is climbing.
Wind is the quiet half of the co-op's supply — strongest at the edges of the day, when solar is weakest.
At high sun our auditors are indoors, walking homes and small businesses room by room — insulation, drafts, old appliances, the way heat leaves a building — and telling people what to fix first.
When the arrays are producing more than the moment needs, batteries hold the surplus and give it back in the evening, when the valley's demand peaks and the light is gone.
Evening workshops, school visits and kitchen-table conversations about where power comes from and what it costs. A co-op runs on understanding as much as it runs on electrons.
Membership
Sunrise Renewables is owned by the people it serves. Members hold a share, vote on the co-op's direction, and hear from us in plain language about what the projects are doing.
Join the co-opAdd your name and your town. Membership is open to households, farms and small businesses across Burlington and the Champlain Valley.
We match your share to a community solar or wind project that is already feeding the local grid.
We report back in plain numbers on what the co-op's projects made and what it offset, so a share is never a mystery.
Members vote on the co-op's direction at the annual meeting, including where the next project goes.

Tell us where you are and what you're curious about. We'll come back to you about the next step — a share in an array, an efficiency audit, a battery project or a seat at the next workshop.
Give
Not everyone can host a panel or buy a share. Gifts from members and neighbours go into the projects themselves — shared solar that households can join without a roof of their own, batteries that hold the evening, and energy education in Burlington's schools and community halls.
Helping a shared array reach more households across the Champlain Valley.
Holding the afternoon's surplus so the evening can use it.
Workshops, school visits and plain-language answers about where power comes from.
