Longarm rental · Classes · Lawrence, Kansas
Rent the longarm and load your quilt top on a frame that makes the whole job feel easy. Classes and pattern help are here too, whenever you want them.
The longarm
The hardest part of a quilt is usually the quilting. Our longarm holds the whole width of the quilt at once, so you guide the machine instead of wrestling a stack of fabric through a home sewing machine.
Reserve the frame for a session, bring your finished quilt top, and leave with the quilting done. If you would rather have a design in mind before you start, pattern help is part of the visit.
How it works
Every session opens with a short walk-through of the machine, so first-timers and seasoned quilters both settle in fast.
Pick a session that suits you and tell us what you are bringing. A reservation keeps the frame free for your project.
Bring the finished quilt top, along with your backing and batting. We help you get everything squared up and ready to load.
We help you load the frame and set the tension, then you stitch. Go edge to edge with a pantograph or free-motion your own design.
Roll it up and carry it out — the quilting is done. From there it is trimming, binding and the part where you get to show it off.
Classes & pattern help
If you would rather know the longarm first, our classes take you through threading, tension, loading the frame and free-motion patterns — so you can reserve the machine on your own with confidence.
Beginner sewing classes start at the very first seam, and pattern help is there for anyone stuck between a stack of fabric and a finished quilt.
Reserve a seat
Start with the basics: machine setup, straight seams and a first finished project to take home.
Threading, tension, loading the frame and a free-motion pattern you can repeat on your own quilt.
Bring a pattern or a pile of fabric and work out the next step with someone who has read it before.
Set aside a stretch of time, bring your project and sew alongside other quilters.
The studio
Stitch & Stone is a fabric studio in Lawrence — part shop, part workroom, part classroom. Come in for the longarm, stay for the shelves.
Clear a stretch of time, bring the project that has been waiting, and sew with company. Retreats are the long, unhurried version of a studio afternoon — cutting, piecing and comparing notes across the table.
Reserve
Tell us what you are finishing and pick a day that works. Booking ahead means the frame is ready when you walk in, with the studio beside you for the first pass.
What to bring
Reservations are made at the studio. Stop in, tell us the size of your quilt top, and we will set a day and time for your session.
