Classes

What kids cook with us.

Three ways in: a weekday afternoon, a birthday kitchen, or a summer camp that starts at the market.

After-school classes

Kids start with what grows here and follow it to the pan — washing, chopping, cooking, and eating the dish they made before pickup.

Birthdays · book the kitchen

Birthday kitchen rental

The whole kitchen, reserved for the party. Kids cook the food themselves and eat it around one table.

Summer

Farm-to-table camp

Days that start with the market basket and end with a lunch the kids cooked themselves.

Not sure where to start?

Book one after-school class, meet the kitchen, and see how your kid takes to the board.

Workshops

Two that need a bigger counter.

One brings the whole family in behind the same board. One puts a real knife in older hands and teaches them how to use it.

02

Teen knife skills series

A series for older kids on the part of cooking that takes practice.

Cutting to size, then cooking what they cut.

Session baskets

Sessions fill up like baskets.

A multi-week session is one basket, filled level by level. Every level is something they do themselves.

  1. 1

    Pick it

At the market, with a list they wrote themselves.

  2. 2

    Prep it

Washing, tearing and chopping at their own board.

  3. 3

    Cook it

Into the skillet, with the heat watched closely.

  4. 4

    Eat it

At the table, together, because they made it.

Ages 6–12

After-school session

A multi-week run on one weekday afternoon: the same board, the same group, something new in the skillet each time.

Summer

Farm-to-table camp

The fullest basket of the summer: market mornings, kitchen afternoons, and lunch cooked by the kids who made it.

Where it comes from

What grows here goes in first.

Before a burner is lit, the basket gets filled. Kids handle the real thing, learn what it is called, and cook it — because a peach you picked yourself tastes different in the pan.

In the basket

  • Sweet Carolina peaches
  • Okra
  • Shrimp
  • Butter-yellow peppers
  • Tomatoes
