Custom jewelry starts as a pencil line on paper — a shape, a proportion, a stone you already own. Tell us the shape. We'll tell you what's possible, then draw it at full size before anything is cut.
A ring is four decisions stacked: the stone, the head that holds it, the shank that carries it, and the size it has to be. We draw them separately, then assemble them on paper before anything is made.
We start with an outline: how wide the band sits, how high the stone rides, where the ring carries its weight. You see it in elevation before anything is cut.
Metal, finish, band profile, stone size, setting height — every choice is written onto the drawing, so nothing is guessed at later.
The drawing becomes something you can hold and try on. This is the stage where changes are still simple, so this is where we make them.
Set, polished and checked back against the drawing, then handed over. The paper stays with the ring.
Six kinds of work come through the door. Each one is logged the same way — a symbol, a plain description, and what happens next.
Drawn from scratch and made to order — built around your stone, or one we find with you.
Proportions worked out on paper first, so the ring sits right on the hand it's made for.
Sizing, re-tipping, chain and clasp work, stone tightening. Drop it off and we'll tell you what it needs.
A written assessment of what you have, made in front of you at the bench.
Battery replacement and resealing, with the case checked before it goes back on.
A proper clean and a hand polish to bring a piece back to itself.
Custom work and appraisals are by appointment. Repairs, batteries and cleaning can be dropped off — we'll look at the piece and tell you what it needs before anything starts.
Bring a sketch, a photograph, a stone from another ring, or just a description. We draw it at full size in front of you, show you the proportions, and talk honestly through metal, stone and what each choice changes.
Nothing is made until the drawing is right. Consultations are by appointment at the Scottsdale studio.
The drawing stays empty until you put something on it. There are two ways to start, and both begin with us looking at the piece or the idea.
Custom work · Engagement rings · Appraisals
These are by appointment, so the drawing gets the time it needs. Bring a sketch, a photo, a loose stone or an heirloom you want reworked, and we'll work the proportions on paper with you.
Repairs · Watch batteries · Cleaning
Repairs, watch batteries and cleaning can be dropped in without an appointment. We look at the piece first and tell you what it needs before any work starts.
