Second Chance Hound Rescue Chattanooga, Tennessee Give monthly
The Porch Light Foster Network

Keep a porch light on for a hound.

Foster a dog. Or fund the network that makes room.

Second Chance Hound Rescue runs on porches like yours — small, steady points of welcome across Chattanooga. Foster homes open the door; monthly givers keep the light on.

Fostering, up close

There’s room on the porch. Yours.

Fostering is a couch, a water bowl, and a few weeks of patience. A dog is waiting at the rescue for a home; you give them a place to breathe while we help find it.

We match you with a dog that fits your household, your other animals, and the shape of your week. You set the pace, and our foster team stays close from application to adoption day.

  • A spare room, or a corner of the living room. Somewhere quiet for a dog to land, away from the front door.
  • A crate, a leash, a bowl, and a little routine. The everyday equipment a hound needs while they wait.
  • A few weeks, or as long as it takes. You decide how often you foster and how long each stay lasts.

How it works

From application to first night.

Four steps, no mystery. Tell us about your household and we take it from there, one conversation at a time.

  1. 01

    Apply

Tell us about your home, your other pets, and the kind of dog you would like to help. It takes a few minutes.

  2. 02

    Talk it through

A conversation with our foster team. Ask anything, and we will be straight with you about what each dog needs.

  3. 03

    Meet the hound

A meet-and-greet with the dog, usually with their current foster, so you both get to check the fit.

  4. 04

    Bring them home

Leash, crate, food, and a first-night plan. Your porch light comes on and a hound gets a place to land.

The Porch Light Club

Keep the lights steady.

Foster homes open the door. Monthly givers keep the porch lit — the ordinary, unglamorous work that makes each rescue possible, month after month.

The rest of the street

Fostering is one door. Here are the others.

Every part of the network runs on the same idea: neighbors, close to home, doing the next small thing. Come in through whichever door fits.

A porch is not a forever home. It’s the place a dog waits until one comes along.

Two doors

Pick a door. Either one keeps a light on.

Foster homes and monthly givers do different jobs on the same street. One opens the door, and the other keeps it open.

Foster a hound

Apply once, and we will match you with a dog when the fit is right. You choose the pace; our team stays close the whole way.
