Custom Commission Card

Every piece is quoted from the placement and the size, so these are starting points rather than a menu. Send the commission card and a real figure comes back for your specific idea.
Single-needle linework, whip shading and solid black fills. Small, precise and readable — built to hold its shape as it heals.
Drawn from the ground up around your reference and your placement, then quoted before anything is booked.
Four hours in the chair — a mid-size piece, or one solid sitting on something larger.
Seven hours. Large-scale blackwork, an illustrative composition, or steady progress on a sleeve.
How It Works
No back-and-forth, no guessing. The commission card at the top of this page is the whole intake — everything after it is a straight line.
Placement, size, style, budget and a reference image if you have one. It takes about two minutes.
A real number for your specific idea, back within one business day — not a range you have to chase.
An $80 deposit holds your slot in the book, and the drawing is finished before you sit down.
One artist, one chair. If a line needs settling in within six months, the touch-up is free.
Everything goes through one pair of hands. Salt & Iron is a solo studio in Duluth — the quote, the drawing and the tattoo all come from the same artist.

The Artist
I'm Dez. Salt & Iron is a solo studio in Duluth — I draw the piece, quote the piece and tattoo the piece, so nothing gets lost in the middle. Fine-line and blackwork most days, custom illustrative work when the idea asks for it.
If you already know your placement, your rough size and roughly what you want to spend, the commission card at the top of this page gets you a straight answer. Send a reference if you have one, and leave the notes wide open if you don't — both work.

Healed work on an ankle, in daylight — the line is the part that has to hold.
