01 — Classes

The first line you learn is the one you walk.

Everything in fencing is built on the floor: the distance you can hold and the distance you can take away. Classes start with footwork, add the blade, and reach the bout when you are ready for it.

  1. 01

    Footwork

Stance, advance, retreat, lunge — the straight line under everything else you will learn.

  2. 02

    Blade work

Parry, riposte and the point in front of you, in the club's two weapons: sabre and foil.

  3. 03

    Bouting

Fence for real on the piste, with touches called and scored the way they are in a match.

  4. 04

    Private lessons

One-to-one time with a coach on your distance, your timing and your blade work.

02 — Equipment

Kit that carries you down the piste.

The club sells equipment: masks, jackets, gloves, blades and bags. Gear should fit the way you fence, so we size it on the floor before it goes into your bag.

Where the training gets tested.

Competitions

Fence the bout, not the drill.

Competitions are where the footwork gets tested. Fencers from the club enter events through the season in sabre and foil, and training turns toward the next one.

Summer camps

Summer on the piste.

Camps put the whole club into one stretch: footwork, blade work and bouting, with plenty of time on the piste for new and returning fencers.
