Trips & seasons

Every trip hangs under its own stretch of season.

Archery elk in the early fall, rifle elk in the late fall, and fly fishing across the long light from spring through fall. Rates start where the season starts — pick your window, then pick the trip.

Season · spring through fall

Fly fishing the North Fork

Guided fly fishing on the North Fork and the valley's smaller water. Full days run first light through the evening rise. Half days take the best window of the day and nothing else.

  • Full dayfrom $495
  • Half dayfrom $325

Bowhunter moving through golden aspen and dark spruce at first light

Season · early fall

Archery elk, five days

Five days in the high country as the rut comes on — timber, wallows and the first cold mornings. Archery is the quietest window on the rail, and the one to claim early if you want it.

  • 5-day huntfrom $3,200

Season · late fall

Rifle elk, five days

Late-fall elk on the rimrock and the oak brush below it. Five days, hard frost, and the country at its most open — the leaves off and the glassing good.

The leaves come off. The country opens up.

  • 5-day huntfrom $3,600

Fly rod, waders and a shotgun case laid out on a tailgate at sunrise

Season · fall weekend

Cast & blast weekend

One weekend, two ways to read the season — shotguns in the early hours, fly rods in the afternoon, moving with the weather and the water.

  • Weekendfrom $1,150

How it works

Four stops along the rail.

Booking here is a short walk, not a form marathon. Four steps from open date to open water.

01

Read the rail

Copper marks the days that are open, month by month. Scroll the year until your window shows up.

02

Send the request

Use the booking form or call the number. Give the date and the trip you're after.

03

We confirm

We come back to you to lock the day in and go through the meet time, the water or the country, and what to bring.

04

Meet and go

Meet your guide at the river or the trailhead and put the day in. That's the whole of it.

Service area

Paonia is home. The country is the office.

We guide out of the North Fork Valley and run trips across the western slope, from the river bottoms below the orchard country up onto Grand Mesa and into the Gunnison County high country.

Book a date

The rail is the calendar.

Send a request for any copper day and we'll come back to you to confirm. If you'd rather talk it through first, the phone is right here.

Nothing is held until we confirm the date with you. Rifle elk and fall weekends are the tightest stretch of the year — send those requests with room to spare.

Trips run across the North Fork Valley, Gunnison County, Grand Mesa, Delta County and Western Colorado.
