The wall, this week

Fired tiles get pinned. Sold tiles get pulled. The wall is the whole record.

Kiln drop 041

What came off the shelf.

Four shapes this run, all in speckled stoneware. Runs are small and each piece is one of a kind — when a shape sells out, the tile comes off the wall until the next firing.

Glaze notes

Every batch gets a note before it gets a price. If a glaze holds, the piece goes up for sale. If it crawls or runs, it stays a sample tile and we write down why.

  1. Note 041 Live

    Rutile blue over speckled stoneware

Glaze held. Didn't run. Pinned to the wall and released with this drop.

  2. Note 038 Sample

Lemon matte on the small mug body

Crawled at the foot ring. Kept as a sample tile, not offered for sale.

  3. Note 036 Fired

Ocean blue outside, clear liner in

Two drips at the rim and both stopped short. The full run was released.

  4. Note 033 Sold out

    Speckled stoneware, serving bowl

Held at the lip, pooled at the foot. Sold out; the tile came down until the next firing.

Process

Four steps, and a wall of evidence.

Nothing leaves the studio unlogged. Each batch is thrown, fired and tested in the same order, so the piece you buy came off a known result.

    Throw

Stoneware on the wheel, one piece at a time.

  2. 02

    Trim & bisque

Feet trimmed, rims softened, then a bisque firing to set the clay.

  3. 03

    Glaze

Dipped and poured. Every batch is a test, and the wall keeps the record.

  4. 04

    Fire & release

The kiln opens, the results get pinned, and whatever held goes live.

“Tiles come down when a run sells out. The nail holes stay — they're the record of what held and what didn't.”
