Bandera, Texas · The Hill Country
Week-long, all-inclusive stays on a working ranch west of Bandera. Ride out at first light, follow the creek until you forget the time, and come back to the fire.
The Land
The ranch sits in the Texas Hill Country, where live oak gives way to limestone and the hills fold one behind the other until they turn blue. Mornings come up slow over the ridge. The creek runs clear enough to see the bottom of it.
Trails leave the barn, cross the fence line, and keep going into country that hasn't changed much. That's the point of the week: enough ground to get properly lost, and a porch light to come back to.
What a Week Holds
Every stay is all-inclusive, so the only decision left is which direction to head after breakfast.
One booking, a full week, everything included. Come in, put your bags down, and stop thinking about logistics.
Saddle up at the barn and ride out past the fence line. The pace is yours to set, and the hills do the rest.
Move the herd with the hands — slow, deliberate, the old way. Some weeks you work cattle; some weeks you just ride.
Boots on the boards after dark, steps learned one at a time. Nobody starts out knowing the turns.
Dinner off the coals, eaten outside, under a sky with no city anywhere in it.
Follow the creek until you forget the time. Take a rod, or don't — the water is good company either way.
The Week
A week is long enough to learn the ground and short enough to want another one. Days here run on light and appetite, not on a schedule pinned to the wall.
Come in, put your bags down, walk out to the porch. Dinner is at the fire tonight, and there is no rush to be anywhere.
After breakfast, saddle up and ride out with the hands. Cross the creek bottom, follow the fence line, and let the hills pull you further than you planned.
Fish, wade, or do nothing at all in the shade. The creek runs all afternoon and nobody is keeping track of where you got to.
Line dancing on the boards, then a campfire cookout with the coals still going when the stars come out properly.
