Healed work — blackwork forearm

Anyone can photograph a tattoo on the day it's finished — the ink is at its loudest and the skin is still angry. We keep the second photograph: the same piece once it has settled. Nothing in this archive was shot fresh.

01 — The archive

Nothing here was photographed this week.

A tattoo is finished on the day it's drawn, but it isn't settled until months later. Every card below is a healed photograph — same studio light, no retouching, taken well after the last sitting. Read the placement, then send a booking request.

Blackwork, settled

Solid black worked in flats, with the negative space left to carry the shape. Healed, the piece flattens into one quiet tone — line edges soften by a fraction and then stay put.

Fine line, still reading

Single-needle work drawn with the spacing built in, so the line has somewhere to go as the skin settles around it. Placed where thin work is easiest to lose, and holding its shape anyway.

Color, packed for the years

Bold outline and packed color, saturated on the day and planned to settle a shade deeper. We draw the saturation for the healed tone you keep, not the one you photograph on the Tuesday.

02 — Services

Blackwork, fine line, color, reworks.

Every service is booked the same way: send references, agree the placement and the size, then take a half or a full day at the table.

03 — Method

We photograph it twice.

Once at the end of the sitting, under the studio light. Once again a year or more later — same lens, same angle, no filter. The second photograph is the one that tells you anything.

  1. 01

    Day one

Fresh ink is at its loudest: lines crisp, color at full strength, skin still irritated and shiny. It is the most flattering the piece will ever look.

  2. 02

    Week two to six

Peeling, settling, dulling. Nothing about this stage is permanent, which is why we never sell from it.

  3. 03

    Three months

Surface healed. This is the first photograph that means anything at all.

  4. 04

    One year and on

Ink has settled into the skin and the edges soften by a fraction. This is the tattoo you actually keep.

Work in progress — the only fresh photograph we keep

If a piece still looks right three years later, it was drawn honestly.
