Curated womenswear & made-to-measure alterations

Made to fit you, not the rack.

Marlowe & Finch keeps a small, considered rail in the shop — then alters it until it sits exactly where it should. Pins, chalk and a tailor who listens, included.

  • Curated womenswear
  • Made-to-measure alterations

The collection

The rail is small on purpose.

Every piece is chosen to be worn with the rest of the rail — and to be altered without losing its line. Come in and pull things down. Take your time with it.

  • Curated womenswear A tight edit of pieces that earn their hanger, chosen season after season.
  • Seasonal lookbook What's on the rail now, and how we'd wear it — in the shop and online.
  • Gift cards Available in the shop, for the person who would rather choose it themselves.

Made-to-measure alterations

Your measurements, our needle.

Bring us something from the rail, or something you already love and can't quite wear. We pin it on you, mark it in chalk, and stitch it to your numbers.

  1. Measure

We take your measurements over what you'll wear underneath, standing the way you actually stand.

  2. Mark

Chalk lines where the hem, waist or shoulder should fall, with pins to hold the plan in place while you're still wearing the garment.

  3. Baste

A loose stitch first, so you can try the fit and move in it before anything is final. Adjustments happen here, not after.

  4. Finish

Final stitching, pressed, folded and returned to you ready to wear.

Online sizing help

Ordering from home? Send us your numbers.

A size chart tells you the average. We would rather know you. Take three measurements, send them over with the piece you are looking at, and we will tell you what to order — or whether to wait and try it in the shop instead.

We reply with a recommendation for the piece you are looking at — and say so when the honest answer is to try it on in person.

  1. Bust

Around the fullest part of the bust, tape level under the arms and snug — not tight.

  2. Waist

At the natural waist, the narrowest point, usually just above the navel. Keep the tape relaxed.

  3. Hips

Around the fullest part of the hips, feet together and the tape running level all the way round.

Between two sizes, or unsure where a garment is meant to sit? That is exactly the kind of question we like.
