Workshops & private parties

Four ways to take the bench.

Every workshop runs at the bench with the wax, oils and tools set out. Candles go home the same day; cold-process bars cure on the rack and are collected once they are ready.

Candle workshop

Pour-your-own candle workshop

Wax, wick and vessel waiting at the bench. You pour your own candle and take it home the same day.

Soap workshop

Cold-process soap class

Oils and lye, measured out and made into a loaf from scratch. The loaf rests on the rack to cure, then you collect your bars from the studio.

Private party

Private party, up to 10

The whole studio for your group — up to ten people, one craft, and the bench to yourselves for the session.

Add-on

Bachelorette add-on

Added to a private party. Tell us what your group is celebrating when you book and we will fold it into the afternoon.

How it works

Soap takes weeks.
Booking takes a minute.

Book a bench, make something, and we will handle the resting, cutting and curing from there.

  1. Step 01

    Book your bench

Call the studio with the workshop you want, how many people are coming and a date that suits you.

  2. Step 02

    Make it

At the bench you pour wax into your vessel, or weigh and mix a cold-process loaf from scratch.

  3. Step 03

    Set and cut

Candles cool and are boxed before you leave. Soap loaves rest, then get cut into bars.

  4. Step 04

    Collect

Candles go home with you that day. Cold-process bars cure on the rack, and you pick them up when they are ready.

Leelanau & Lye Studio is a working candle and soap studio. Everything here is made at one bench, next to a rack that holds row after row of curing soap.

Workshops run in small groups, and a private party takes the whole studio — up to ten people at a time. Either way you leave with something you made, and something we are still curing for you.
