The bloom calendar

What's flowering when, and what ends up in the jar.

The ridge blooms in a run, one wave after another. The honey changes with it — colour, body, how fast it sets. Here's the season the way we see it from the hives.

01

Late spring

Clover

Clover opens first across the lower pastures — pale, clean and quick to set. It's the light jar of the year, and the one that goes fastest at the stand.

In the jar

Raw wildflower honey — 1 lb $12 · 3 lb $32

02

Midsummer

Coneflower

The wild bunch comes on at once and the honey turns dark and full. This is when we cut comb — straight from the frame, still capped, nothing done to it.

In the jar

Cut comb honey — $18

03

Late summer

Goldenrod

Goldenrod closes the season with a deep, buttery set. Last of the year, and the last pull off the hives before the ridge goes quiet.

In the jar

Gift box with honey dipper — $45

The honey

Raw, straight off the ridge, nothing added.

Four things come off this place: the wildflower jars, cut comb, and the gift box with a dipper in it. Nothing is filtered to a shine — what the bees put in is what you get.
