The working window

Book it while the ground is still warm.

Hot-mix has to be laid and sealcoat has to cure on warm, dry pavement. In southeast Wyoming that window runs from late spring into early fall, then it shuts until the thaw.

Cracks and potholes get squared out, cleaned and patched so water stops getting under the surface.

New asphalt goes down, or a sealcoat and striping finish the job and shut the weather out.

Every lot is priced on square footage, access and how much of the base has failed. These are starting rates for Laramie County work. We confirm the real number after we see the site.

Asphalt paving

From $4.25 / sq ft

New driveways, overlays and full-depth replacement. We cut out the failed section, rebuild the base with compacted gravel, then lay hot-mix at the depth the traffic calls for.

Sealcoating

From $0.25 / sq ft

A protective coat that seals the surface and slows oxidation. It is worth it on asphalt that is still sound; sealing over a broken base only hides the problem for a season.

Pothole patching

From $175 per patch

We square the edges, clear out the loose material and compact the patch properly, so it stays put through the next freeze instead of popping out in spring.

Parking lot striping

From $1.50 / linear ft

Stalls, fire lanes, arrows and accessible markings laid out around the way the lot actually flows, in paint that stands up to plow blades and traffic.

Why asphalt fails here

Water gets in, freezes, and lifts the surface.

Cheyenne moves from hot summer days to hard overnight freezes. Water works into every crack and seam, expands, and pushes the asphalt up. A crack that is cheap to fill in June turns into a base repair by October.

Hairline cracks Sealing them early keeps water out of the base. It is the least expensive work on this page, and the one that saves the most later.
A web of connected cracks When cracks join into a pattern, the base has usually moved under the surface. Patching the top alone will not hold; that section needs to come out.
Standing water Low spots and blocked drainage leave water sitting on the asphalt. We check pitch and drainage before recommending a fix.
