A hair studio in Portland, Maine, where every service begins with the same question: how does your hair actually move? We follow the strand from the first cut to the last pin.
What we do
Every appointment starts the same way — we look at how your hair falls, then work with it rather than against it. Book the service you're after, or choose “Not sure yet” and we'll point you the right way.
Cut on dry hair as often as wet, so the shape you leave with is the shape you get at home. Layers sit where your hair falls, not where a diagram says they should.
Full color, root touch-ups, gloss and toner. Depth at the base that opens toward the ends, so regrowth arrives soft instead of as a line.
Freehand painting, section by section, so the lift follows the way your hair falls rather than sitting in neat horizontal rows.
Round brush, tension, heat — until the hair holds its own shape. Smooth and full, and still light enough to move when you turn your head.
Planned around your dress, your veil and the room you'll be in. Rehearsed before the day, pinned to hold from first look to last dance.
Matched to your tone and texture, fitted so the joins sit under your own hair, then cut in so the finish looks grown rather than attached.
Color & balayage
Color is a gradient traveling down one strand. We build depth at the base and let it open toward the ends, so regrowth arrives soft instead of as a hard line.
Full color, root touch-ups, gloss and toning — all mapped to how much light your hair will take. We work in passes rather than one flat flood, so the base stays rich and the mid-lengths keep their depth.
Balayage is the strand written on directly: freehand, section by section, so the lift follows the way your hair falls instead of sitting in neat horizontal rows. Each band is placed to catch light where you actually move.
Bridal styling
Bridal work is a braid: structure you can trust on the day and take out at night. We plan the shape around your dress, your veil and the room you'll be in, then rehearse it so nothing is improvised in the chair.
We talk through your dress, your veil and the venue, then decide where the weight of the hair should sit.
A trial run before the day, so the shape is agreed and nothing is left to chance on the morning.
Pins hidden, strand smooth, worked so it holds from the first look through the last dance.
Extensions
Extensions add length and weight without announcing themselves. We match tone and texture to your own strand, then place the joins where your hair falls over them, so the line disappears into the whole.
Shade and texture are matched to your own hair before anything is fitted, in daylight rather than under salon bulbs.
We add enough to change the shape and no more, so movement stays natural through the length.
Cut and blended in after fitting, so the finish looks grown rather than attached.
Regular visits keep the blend honest as your own hair grows out underneath.
