Book club subscriptions

A book club with a bookseller in the middle.

Choose the kind of reading you like and we put the book in your hands before the group meets at the shop. No list to keep up with, and no meeting you cannot skip.

  • 01

A book chosen for the group

Our booksellers pick the title each month, working between new releases, backlist favorites, and used copies when they turn up in good shape.

  • 02

    The book before the meeting

Your copy is set aside at the counter, or sent to the address on file, whichever is easier that month.

  • 03

A seat in the back room

Meetings happen at the shop, around one long table, with the kettle on and a bookseller keeping the conversation moving.

  • 04

    First word on events

Club members hear about author evenings, signed copies, and story hour before we post any of it to anyone else.

Author events

Evenings when the shop stays open late.

Readings, conversations, and signings in the back room. The chairs come out, the coffee goes on, and the talk usually runs past the end of the book.

  • 01

    Readings

An author reads from the new book, then takes questions from the room.

  • 02

    In conversation

A bookseller asks the questions: where the book started, what changed on the way, and what comes next.

  • 03

    Signings

Bring the copy you already own, or pick one up at the counter on your way in.

Special orders, RSVPs & gift cards

Ask for the book you cannot find.

If it is in print, we can usually track it down. Give us the title, the author, or just the half-remembered cover, and a bookseller will write back before anything is ordered.

One form for the three things we are asked for most. Choose what you need and tell us the rest in your own words.

  • Special orders — new and used titles, in print or long out of it.
  • Event RSVPs — reserve a chair for a reading, conversation, or signing.
  • Gift cards — any amount, for the reader who is hard to buy for.

Tell us what you need

We confirm availability, timing, and price by email before the order goes through.

Children's story hour

Picture books, read out loud.

Bring the small ones and settle in on the rug in the children's corner. We read a few picture books, let the room choose the last one, and nobody minds if someone needs to wander.

  • 01

    Reading at the shop

A bookseller reads, the kids listen or do not, and the wrigglers are always welcome.

  • 02

    A shelf at their height

Picture books, early readers, and board books low enough for small hands to reach.

  • 03

    Grown-up picks

Ask us for the books that hold up to a hundred readings, and the ones to wrap for a birthday.
