Thirty seconds. Then five. Then twenty. The guild opens its doors, the easels come out, and a room full of artists settles into the long, patient work of looking.
01 — The night
The night starts fast. Loose marks, no erasing, one sheet after another — the first half hour is spent learning to see before there is any time to think about it.
The guild holds a figure drawing night every month, and it is open to anyone who wants to draw. Bring charcoal or borrow a board, take whichever seat is free, and work at whatever pace the timer sets.
02 — Member gallery
Work by guild members, hung one staircase up from the studio. The artist sets the price; the guild hangs the show and puts you in touch.

03 — Exhibition & studio tour
The rest of the guild’s year is built the same way as the drawing night: slowly, and in public.
Guild members may put work in front of the jury for the guild’s juried exhibition. If a piece is selected, it hangs with the rest of the exhibition and goes on the wall with your name on the label.
The guild publishes a map of member studios around town, so visitors can walk from one working studio to the next and meet the people who make the work. Members are on the map.
Jury entries and the studio tour map are both member benefits. See what membership includes
04 — Membership
Membership is how the room stays open. It covers the figure drawing night every month, a place in the member gallery, entries into the juried exhibition, a listing on the studio tour map, and the guild’s youth art scholarships.
Tiers are available — write to the guild about membership, about a piece in the gallery, or about the studio tour, and the guild will point you to the one that fits.
The guild sets aside scholarship support for young artists — the ones who show up early and stay late.
Youth art scholarships are one of the guild’s standing commitments, alongside the monthly drawing night and the member gallery. It is the quietest thing the guild does, and the one that lasts the longest.
