New Orleans · French Quarter

The Quarter, annotated.

A guide's own black book of the Quarter — the tables, the back bars, the morning counters — opened for a few hours at a time to whoever is curious enough to follow.

  • Food walks
  • Cocktail history
  • Brunch
  • Private groups

every route starts at a corner you'd walk straight past.

no table you could have found on your own

Every tour in the book is written the same way: a route, a handful of stops, and the notes a guide would only give you while walking beside you.

French Quarter Food Tour

From the river side to the Marigny edge, we walk the grid and stop where the kitchens cook for the people who live on the block. Small plates, long stories, and a route that only makes sense on foot.

Plate III — ice, bitters, and the long afternoon

II

Cocktail History Tour

The old bars keep their stories in the wood. We start where the first bartenders did and work forward through ice, bitters and the slow heat of a Louisiana afternoon, ending somewhere with a door you would not have opened alone.

Brunch Tour

Powdered sugar, chicory coffee and the long tables the Quarter keeps for people who are not in a hurry. We start early enough to beat the crowd and finish late enough that the rest of the day is optional.

The map fragment

Some routes aren't on the map. We drew them anyway.

Guides keep their own geography — the doorway with no sign, the courtyard you would walk past, the three blocks worth the detour after dark. Ours is drawn in pencil, corrected in pen, and carried in the back of the ledger.

01

What the map leaves out

The corner with no sign, and the courtyard you would otherwise walk straight past.

02

How to read a menu

Ask what the kitchen is proud of, not what it is known for.

03

When to arrive

Before the room fills. The best tables are the ones you are early for.

Private tours, drawn to your party.

The whole black book, and only the people you bring. Tell us what you want to eat, drink and see, and we will draw a route around it — then keep the rest of the Quarter politely out of the way.

  • Groups, celebrations and company days out
  • À la carte routes across food, cocktails and brunch
  • Written up for you in advance, annotated like the rest of the book
