Frame 07 — What this is
Cascade Reel runs light through a gate, twenty-four frames a second, in rooms full of strangers who go quiet at the same time.
It is a film festival in Boise, Idaho: screenings, filmmaker Q&As, workshops, community showcases and one awards night. Nothing staged for a camera. Just work on a screen and the people who made it, in the room.
Doors open. Lights drop. Nobody talks.
Frame 06 — The schedule
Every block, every room, every Q&A. Scan down the strip and pick your frames.
Frame 05 — Q&As & workshops
Filmmakers stay after their screenings and take questions until the room empties. Workshop rooms open the next morning — small groups, tools on the table, working hands.
Straight after the screening, in the room, with the people who made it.
Hands-on, small groups, no lecture hall. You leave with something you made.
Local work, shown on the same screen as everything else.
Frame 04 — Awards night
One night at the end of the programme. The screenings are done, the questions are answered, and the festival hands out what it came to hand out.
Frame 03 — Passes
A festival pass covers the screenings, the filmmaker Q&As, the workshops, the community showcases and awards night. Buy once, sit through the whole reel.
