Ex Libris · Briarwood

This book belongs to Briarwood — and so can you.

The used book sale is where donated and retired books find their next reader. A Briarwood library card is how you take home everything else: e-books, research help, and a room when you need one.

01 — The used book sale

Your next read may already be waiting on the sale cart.

Books that have finished one life on our shelves come back for another. Browse the tables, take your time, and leave with an armful.

On the tables

Long tables of donated hardcovers and paperbacks sorted into stacks in a bright library room

Books looking for their next home

Nothing here is a leftover. A used book is simply a book between readers — and the sale is where the handover happens.

  1. Books arrive on the sale tables from the community and from our own shelves.
  2. They are sorted by category, so you can head straight for the section you read.
  3. Take your time. If you can’t find it on the tables, ask at the desk.

02 — Library cards

The card is the invitation. The books do the rest.

A Briarwood library card is a small, unglamorous piece of card stock that opens a very large room. Register once and the whole collection answers to you.

  • Borrow from the shelves, at your own pace
  • Borrow e-books to your phone, tablet or e-reader
  • Ask a librarian for research assistance
  • Reserve a room for your group or study session

We use these details to set up your card. Prefer to register in person? Ask at the circulation desk and we’ll take care of it there.

03 — What your card opens

Rooms, research and reading after hours.

A card covers more than the shelves. Here are three of the things people ask for most, all included.

Room rentals 01
An empty sunlit library meeting room with a wooden table and chairs

Rooms for the neighborhood

Small meeting rooms and quiet study corners for groups, tutors, and anyone who works better out of the house. Ask at the front desk what’s open.

Research assistance 02

A librarian beside you

Bring a half-formed question. A librarian will help you trace it through the catalog, the shelves and the wider web, one step at a time.

E-book access 03
An e-reader with a dark screen on a side table beside a paperback and reading glasses

The library, after hours

Borrow e-books straight to your phone, tablet or e-reader and keep the reading going long after the doors close.
