A reef is not decor. It is architecture that breathes.
Light, flow and habitat are resolved on paper before any water is moved, so the finished system reads as part of the room rather than an object dropped into it.
Blue Current designs, installs and maintains aquariums and ponds across Tampa, Florida — residential and commercial — and we stay with a system long after it is handed over.
LightSpectrum, photoperiod and glare set for the room the tank lives in, not the fixture catalogue.
FlowCirculation routed around the rockwork: strong where it matters, quiet enough for a living room.
HabitatRock, sand and livestock chosen as a community that works together as it grows.
CareA maintenance plan keeps the system in the condition it was commissioned in.

02 — Commissions
Each system issued as a set of plates.
A commission begins as drawings. Plans, sections and lighting notes describe how the aquarium is served, lit and lived in — the parts behind the glass that nobody sees and everybody notices.
Plate 01Residential
Residential aquarium setup
A home aquarium designed around the room it occupies. We survey the space, set the water and power strategy, then build the system in place and stay to commission it.
PlanA survey of the room establishes sightlines, floor loading and where the water and power can live.
LightFixtures are scheduled for spectrum and photoperiod before the tank is filled.
FlowCirculation is directed around the rockwork so no corner of the system sits still.
AftercareThe aquarium can be handed straight to a monthly maintenance plan.

Plate 02Bespoke
Custom reef builds
A bespoke reef is drawn before it is built: a section through the display, the sump below and the plant room behind it, so the structure is resolved before the first piece of rock is placed.
SectionDisplay, sump and plant room drawn as one vertical assembly with clearance for service.
StructureCabinet, floor loading and drainage agreed with the room rather than fitted around it.
HabitatRock form and coral placement planned as a single composition with zones for growth.
BuildPlumbing, water and lighting brought up in stages until the system settles.
Reception, waiting room or boardroom: a commercial aquarium is specified like any other building service. Access, drainage, noise and the visit schedule are agreed before installation, and a maintenance contract keeps it running afterwards.
AccessService routes for sumps, pipework and water changes planned around your building's hours.
QuietPumps and overflows selected so the aquarium stays in the background of the room.
ContractScheduled maintenance visits, sized to the system and the space it sits in.
ContinuityOne team from the first survey to the monthly visit.
An aquarium is a living system, and living systems drift. Maintenance plans, pond service and fish health consultations keep a display in the condition it was commissioned in — for a home, an office or several sites at once.

01
Monthly maintenance plans
A fixed rhythm of visits covering water chemistry, filtration and equipment, glass and substrate, and the livestock themselves. You get a system that stays balanced between visits, and a clear note of anything that needs attention.
02
Pond cleaning
Seasonal and one-off pond clearing: debris and sludge removal, filtration and pump checks, and water quality work so the pond reads clean from the house and stays healthy for the fish through the warm months, when ponds work hardest.
03
Fish health consultations
When something in the tank has changed — behavior, appetite, colour, an outbreak you cannot name — we assess the system as a whole and set out what to correct, and in what order, rather than treating the symptom alone.
04
Commercial maintenance contracts
Offices, clinics and hospitality spaces: scheduled visits, agreed access around your building's hours, and one service team that already knows the installation.
Several aquariums, one scheduleIf you look after more than one building in Tampa, we can put several aquariums on a single contract and a single visit pattern.
A commission runs like a small building project: brief, survey, drawings, build, and the care that follows. You see each stage before the next one starts.
01BriefTell us the room or the building, the position you have in mind, and what you want the water to do in it.
02SurveyWe visit to check sightlines, structure, drainage, power and noise, and confirm what the space can take.
03DrawingsPlans, sections, and lighting and flow notes, reviewed with you before any work starts on site.
04BuildCabinet, plumbing, lighting and water brought together on site, phased around your household or your building's schedule.
05Settling & careThe system is stocked and stabilised, then handed to a maintenance plan so it stays as it was drawn.
Fig. 05 — Pond service, seasonal clearance
Ponds, home aquariums and commercial installations all pass through the same file: surveyed, drawn, then cared for.
Tell us about the room, the building and the timeline. We will come back with a first read on the site and the next step: a survey, a maintenance plan or a contract proposal.
