Bulls raised on the ground that tests them.

02 — Program

Everything we do runs through the cow herd.

Bulls, embryos, grazing and consulting all come out of the same set of cows and the same set of records. Whether you are buying a bull, breeding a donor, or parking cattle for a season, you are dealing with the people who do the work.

If it is not something we would do on our own outfit, we will tell you so.

  1. 01

    Registered Angus Bull Sales

Our annual production sale is where the ranch's registered Angus bulls find their next outfit.

  2. 02

    Embryo Transfer

Donor cows flushed and embryos placed in recipient females to multiply the genetics that already work in your herd.

  3. 03

    Custom Grazing

Your cattle on our grass for a set season, with the count, the pasture and the pull date agreed up front.

  4. 04

    Consignment Sales

Bring your own lots to the sale and market them alongside the ranch offering.

  5. 05

    Herd Consulting

Sit down over your records — selection, breeding, culling — and get a second set of eyes from somebody who runs cows too.

  6. 06

    Ranch Visits

Come see the cows, the bulls and the country before you buy anything. Visits are arranged ahead so somebody is here.

03 — The Ranch

Ranch ground in the Beaverhead.

Bitterroot Hollow runs outside Dillon, Montana, in the Beaverhead Valley — short grass, long winters, and enough wind to keep everybody honest. The cow herd lives on the same country the bulls are sold to work in, which is the only test that matters to us.

We would rather you walked the place than took our word for it. Come out, look at the cows, and ask the questions you would ask a neighbor.

  • 01

See the cow herd and the bulls on the ground, not just in a catalog.

  • 02

Walk the grass and the water with whoever does the fencing and the feeding.

  • 03

Talk through breeding, selection and culling questions while you are here.

  • 04

Bring your trailer or just your notebook — either is fine.
