Section 3 · Road test prep

The test, rehearsed.

Behind the wheel · Phoenix streets

Road test prep is a dress rehearsal. We drive the maneuvers, we talk through the decisions out loud, and you leave knowing what the examiner is looking at — and in what order.

  1. Pre-drive checks

Seat, mirrors, seatbelt, signals. The first two minutes are on the sheet before the car has moved an inch.

  2. Parking and turning

Parallel parking, three-point turns, and the ordinary turns you make a hundred times a week — performed on purpose this time.

  3. Lane changes and merging

Mirror, signal, blind spot, in that order, every single time. Repetition is the whole trick.

  4. Test-day pacing

Arrive early, settle your breathing, and follow the instructions exactly as they are given to you.

Slow is smooth. Smooth is a pass.

Section 4 · Defensive driving & online theory

See further down the road.

Online · Take it at your own pace

Defensive driving is not about going slower. It is about seeing further — the gap ahead, the driver two cars back, the intersection that is not as empty as it looks.

  • A following distance you can count on
  • Scanning intersections before you enter them
  • What to do when someone else makes the mistake
  • Night driving and desert-weather conditions
